Why should I buy KongTime for my dog?

It’s fun! Your dog can have a great time while waiting for you to come home. Sure, there are other factors. Your dog will be less pent up when you come home, engage in less boredom-related misbehavior, and be less likely to develop separation issues. But ultimately, a happy, tail-wagging dog just brings a smile.

What size KongTime should I buy for my dog?

KongTime comes in one "size" that works well with small, medium, or large Kong toys. Toys are not included.

How tough is KongTime?

KongTime is made of thick, tough, rounded plastic with no corners to chew. KongTime weighs almost ten pounds when loaded and has a low center of gravity and non-skid rubber feet. We have found that most dogs are fine with KongTime on the floor. If you are concerned about your dog, you can also place KongTime on a high surface like your countertop.

How do I make sure not to overfeed my dog?

We recommend stuffing Kong® toys with the food you would otherwise put in your dog’s bowl. Apply a little Kong Stuff’N paste to the back of the toy (where it takes longer for the dog to get it out), fill with your dog’s regular food, and then plug the hole with a Kong Stuff’N snap. It’s easy, and by eating smaller meals during the day, your dog may even lose some excess weight.

My dog has separation anxiety. Will KongTime cure it?

With mild forms of separation anxiety, KongTime can help as a part of a broader program of management. With severe cases (such as when the dog is so anxious that food or toys simply have no appeal) we recommend that you consult a professional trainer, vet,  or behaviorist that specializes in separation anxiety cases.

Why do you recommend KongTime for single dog households only?

In multiple dog households, unless the dogs are separated, you could not be sure that each dog had their fair share of Kong toys. It is possible that one dog might end up with all the toys. In single dog households, not only does the dog need a bit more stimulation, but the owner can know exactly how much food the dog received.

Why does KongTime choose random times to dispense a toy?

Dogs are very smart about time (as anyone who has been nose-prodded at breakfast time can confirm). If KongTime released toys at a fixed interval, your dog would become used to the timing. Instead, our patent-pending method releases the toys to your dog in a way that distributes the toys over the whole period of time, but keeps things fun and unpredictable.

Is KongTime easy to use?

YES! If you can press one button, you can use KongTime. All you do is choose the total time, and KongTime does the rest. Choose 8 hours if you will be gone a full day, or 4 hours for a half day, and KongTime automatically dispenses all the toys within the 4 or 8 hour period, then turns itself off.

Is KongTime easy to clean?

YES! KongTime has smooth, easy to wipe surfaces and a removable tray that can be washed separately.

Do I need to buy anything else to make KongTime work?

You can use the Kong toys that you already own. If you have fewer than four toys you may wish to purchase additional toys to have a total of four toys.

How long will the batteries last?

KongTime includes four AA batteries that will last for up to two months of daily use.
